There is nothing more disappointing to a soccer fan than watching a competition that does not feature their favorite players. Luckily the teams of the three best players in the world- Portugal’s Ronaldo, Argentina’s Messi and France’s Ribbery are going to be in the competition as long as they remain healthy. However the competition will miss some star players, below is a list of the top 5 players who will miss the 2014 World Cup due to their team’s exit.

1. Zlatan Ibrohimovic

Zlatan Ibrohimovic will definitely be missed for the amazing goals he scores, the Swedish striker and his national team were eliminated in the knockout stage in an epic showdown between him and the 2013/2014 best player in the world Christiano Ronaldo. Both players scored all goals in the 3-2 knock out tie. Hopefully the Swede will feature in the next world cup if he does not retire by then.

2. Gareth Bale

The young real madrid star and Welsh international will not get a chance to show case his talent as he has in the premier league and la liga. Gareth Bale broke his real madrid team mate’s world record transfer fee in a  £86million move from Totenham Hotspur to the ‘Galacticos’. Considering the  money splashed to sign him, there is no doubt the amount of potential this player has. At the age of 24 he still has a couple of world cup competitions to look forward to.

3. Robert Lewandonski

The Polish international striker who led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final of 2013 will not feature in the competition as his team were eliminated after a poor performance in the group stage. The striker has been linked with a move to the 2012/2013 Champions League victors Bayern Munchen and English Premier League giants Manchester United.

4. Peter Cech

It may come as a surprise to some for a goal keeper to make this list but goal keepers have become an essential part of the beautiful game. The Chelsea and Polish international has a reputation for making crucial saves which can make a huge difference in a game especially going into penalties. Peter Cech is famous for denying many top players goals in big matches, among them Lionel Messi.

5. Aaron Ramsey

After having a disappointing 2012/2013 season in the premier league with Arsenal, Aaaron Ramsey has made a huge improvement and silenced his critics by scoring goals almost by will. Many had doubts as to why the player was still in the first team after his consistent bloopers in the previous season but Arsene Wenger believed in him and the Welshman is now delivering results for the gunners with help from their new signing Mesut Ozil and midfield mystro Jack Wilshere.
